Since July 1 children can be transported only by buses with tachographs

The Head of the Department of Supervisory Actions of the Russian Traffic Police Headquarters Alexander Borisov told that starting July 1 the clause of rules would come in force, according which only a bus that was made not later than 10 years ago can be used to transport a group of children.

New conditions of transporting organized groups of children (over eight people) by buses are coming into force in Russia on July 1, 2015, they are toughening the requirements for the vehicle’s condition and its equipping, The Head of the Department of  Supervisory Actions of the Russian Traffic Police Headquarters Alexander Borisov informed journalists at a briefing on Monday. 

“The clause of rules is coming in force, according which only a bus that was made not later than 10 years ago can be used to transport a group of children. It shall meet the requirements for passenger transportations, be permitted to participate in the road traffic and be equipped with a tachograph, as well as with a GLONASS or GLONASS/GPS satellite navigation device,” the police representative said.

Special rules of transporting children by buses, not belonging to high occupancy vehicles, have been in force in Russia since last January. They stipulate main duties of drivers and accompanying persons, safety transportation conditions, requirements for making up a transportation route plan.

In particular, there is a prohibition to transport children under seven years old for more than four hours, it is mandatory to have food products in a bus for over three hours ride. The interurban transportation in the transport column for over three hours shall be accompanied by a medical worker. The organized transportation of children from 11 pm to 6 am is allowed only to and from train stations and airports.
